Richard Huskey
President

Richard has been with Southern Constructors since 1989 and has been President since 1995. He has over 27 years of construction experience. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Throughout his career he has had some notable projects that include: Gay Street Streetscapes - Lower Second Creek Site Improvements - Sevier County TDOT Bridge Repair -Anderson County TDOT Bridge Repair - UT Hess Hall Shower Renovations - UT Hospital Laundry Facility Expansion - UT Hospital Emergency Generator Building - UT Hospital Surgery Suite Renovations - UT Hospital Elevator - Blount County TDOT Bridge Deck Replacement - Carter County TDOT Bridge Repair - Maryville Pedestrian Bridge.

Richard is certified in CPR/First Aid, TDOT Flagger Training, and Tennessee Erosion and Sediment Control ESPC - Level 1.

Outside of the office Richard is an active member and Chairman of the Buildings and Grounds Committee for First Baptist Church in Sevierville Tennessee and is a member of Gatlinburg Country Club. Richard is on the board of Sevier County Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He serves as President of Associated General Contractors, Knoxville Branch for term years of 2010-2011.


Todd Butler, P.E.
Vice President/Project Manger

Todd has been with Southern Constructors for over 14 years and has been the Vice President since 2008. He has over 20 years of construction experience. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. While working on his degree he worked 30-40 hours per week.

Some notable projects that Todd has worked on throughout his career are: Cocke County TDOT Bridge Repair - Blount, Loudon, Roane Counties Whitetopping Roadway Enhancements - KUB Eastbridge Wastewater Treatment Plant Expansion - KUB Chlorine System Improvements - Ridgeview Elementary School Addition - Grainger County Bridges Rehabilitation - UT Shower Renovation - UT Hess Hall Renovation- UT Lady Vols Softball Stadium- UT Clement Hall, Phase 2 Renovation - UT Glocker Interior Demolition.

In 2001 Todd received his Professional Engineering License. Throughout Todd's career he has received LEED AP accredited, Tennessee Erosion and Sediment Control ESPC - Level 1 & 2, CPR/First Aid Certification and TDOT Flagger Training. In his spare time he is a member of the Associated General Contractors Knoxville Branch and is an active member at First Baptist Church in Morristown.


Clark Cooper
Vice President/Project Manager

Clark has been at Southern Constructors since 1996 and has been the Vice President since 2008. He has over 27 years of construction experience. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Construction and a Minor in Soils and Structure from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville while working 20-30 hours a week.

Highlights of Clark's career are: Crossville WWTP - Phase 2- Melton Hall Sludge Lagoon Expansion- Pigeon Forge Waste Water Treatment Plant Repairs- Mark B. Whitaker Water Treatment Plant Improvements - Greeneville Water Treatment Expansion- Gatlinburg Waste Water Treatment Plant Tank Failure Repairs-Huntsville Waste Water Treatment Plant- Oak Ridge Waste Water Treatment Plant - Knoxville Utilities Board Pump Stations - Tennessee Department of Tennessee Rest Areas and Bridge Repair.

During his professional career he has accomplished certification from Tennessee Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control EPSC - Level 1 and Engineer in Training Certificate


Sue Caldwell
Secretary/Treasurer

Sue has been at Southern Constructors for over 23 years and has been Secretary/Treasurer since 1990. She also functions as the company’s CFO and Risk Manager. Sue received her Bachelor of Science in Special Education and a Master of Science in Public Heath and Safety Administration from the University of Tennessee Knoxville.

Throughout Sue’s career she has accomplished: OSHA Construction Outreach Trainer, TDOT Flagger Training, Title VI EEO Coordinator Training, Tennessee Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control ESPC - Level 1, EPA Lead Certified Renovator, and CPR/First Aid Certification. On behalf of Southern Constructors, Inc., she has submitted information to the Grading and Excavating National magazine with an article regarding our company appearing in their magazine. SCI received an honorable mention on a written presentation submitted to the National Convention of the International Risk Management Institute (IRMS) and the State and National Construction Safety Excellence Award awarded by Associated General Contractors of Tennessee and AGC of America.

She is a member of the American Society of Safety Engineers and Associated General Contractors, Knoxville Branch.


Mike Gray
Project Manager/Estimator

Mike has been with Southern Constructors since 2005 and has over 10 years of construction experience. He received his Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City Tennessee. While he was working on his degree he worked 30+ hours.

Some notable projects that Mike has worked on include: Washington Pike Bridge Repair -UT Humanities HVAC Improvements -KUB Kuwahee Blower Replacement - Sevierville Agricultural Extension Office - Sevierville Ambulance Dispatch Center - UT Cherokee Animal Facility - UT Hess Hall - Phase 2 - TSD Middle School Renovation - John L. Marshall Spec. Building #3 - Luella Elementary School - Salem Baptist Church - KCDC Christenberry Headstart, and Oak Ridge Associated Universities.

Mike is certificated in CPR/First Aid and Tennessee Erosion and Sediment Control ESPC - Level 1.

In his free time he is a member of the Associated General Contractors Knoxville Branch. Also, he attends Buffat Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville Tennessee.


Mike McGaugh
Project Manger/Estimator

Mike has been with Southern Constructors since 2009 and has over 19 years of construction experience. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Technical Education/Training from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Some notable projects that Mike has worked on are: Knoxville Utilities Board- Kuwahee Intermediate Pump Building- UT Steam Plant Boiler Addition - UT Neyland Stadium West Skybox - Phase 1, Wal-Mart Supercenter - Paintsville, Kentucky - Wal-Mart Supercenter - Columbia, South Carolina - US Army Corps of Engineers Defenses Depot, Memphis, Tennessee - Wal-Mart Supercenter - Bonsack, Virginia - Caterpillar Plant Morganton, North Carolina - SMI Joist Plant Addition, Columbia, South Carolina - Oak Ridge Central Service Complex - Manufacturing Science Nuclear Waste Facility - Oak Ridge, Tennessee - Sam’s Club - Richmond, Virginia - Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center Addition, Abington, Virginia.

Throughout his professional career he has accomplished LEED AP Accredited, CPR/First Aid Certification, OSHA Ten Hour Training, and USEPA Approved SWAPPP Professional.

In Mike’s free time he is a member of the Associated General Contractors Knoxville Branch, is one of the founding members of the Knoxville Business Group, and has participated in the Amaché program of Knoxville.


Gene Pratt
Chief Estimator

Gene has spent over 36 years in the Estimating, Project Management, and Contract Administration. He has received an Associate of Science Degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Chattanooga State Technical Community College in Chattanooga Tennessee with honors. Also, he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Throughout his career he has some notable projects such as: Parkwest Hospital - Baptist Hospital West - Baptist Medical Office Building West - St. Mary’s Women Center North – St. Mary’s Medical Offices Building North - Phase 1 - St. Mary’s Medical Offices Building North - Phase 2, East Tennessee Children’s Hospital Addition and Renovation - UT Building “E” Heart and Lung Building -UT NICU Renovation - UT Heart Cath Lab Renovation - UT Neyland Stadium West Side - UT Pratt Pavilion.

Gene is a certified as a LEED AP and is a member of Associated General Contractor Knoxville Branch.

Outside the office he is an active member of West Hills Presbyterian Church. Also, he was an instructor for a graduate level estimation course in the Civil Engineering Department from 1982 to1984 at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
